Biography of Bill Poe
 

Bill began riding at a young age. Originally riding under the tutelage of champion rider John Lorenz. Bill was given the opportunity to rider champion Country Lane a winner at such notable grand prix events as Madison Square Garden and Harrisburg. Bill has been involved foxhunting as well as Hunter Jumper Events. Bill is a volunteer with the Middleburg Humane Foundation He and Jill were recently featured in the national magazine Sidelines in a story about thoroughbred rescue and second lives. Bill & Jill recently sponsored the "To Slow Too go" "Back From the Track Hack" and "Best Adopted Thoroughbred" classes Bill plans on winning these events next year on his new adopted thoroughbred "Melvin Poe" also know as "Gettysburg Address" A spitting image of his father the great runner and producer "Blushing Groom"

Bill attended the University of Maryland studying business. Bill had a brief career in baseball. Bill has been a thoroughbred trainer and owner, His favorite smell is the backside at 7 AM on a hot summer day. Bill most recently has worked as an equine nutritionist working for Pennfield Feed working with Olympians Karen and David O'Connor, Phillip Dutton, Kim Severson, Mara Dean, and Bruce Davidson. He has worked with such horses as the great Barbaro and Better Talk Now He has worked with many of the world's top trainers as the Mid-Atlantic Sales Manager of Hallway Feeds.

Bill currently has a Connemara TB cross name Marnie who is absolutely incredible and can't be beat in any Connemara Division Bill boasts of his Dappled bay mare. Bill also loves their eight Jack Russell's at the circus named A Quiet Place Farm.
